     September ’08  TRANSPARENT WATERCOLOR
      WAS-H building:     1601 West Alabama, Houston, TX  77008-4101  713-942-9966

The dynamic use of transparent watercolor on white paper is the guide line for the class. Bright Transparent watercolor against the drama of the colorful darks set the process for the class.  The basic design concepts, value, color, composition and techniques will be demonstrated and taught in a manner that is direct and uncomplicated. A positive critique will be part of each class and will inspire the student to keep improving the paintings.

Supplies for watercolor Workshops

The supplies you have are great to use for my workshops.  The supplies need to be archival and of course good quality. The advantage to using your own paints is that you already know how they work.
Paper:
2 full sheets of watercolor paper -Winsor Newton (is a whiter paper and will give more sparkle to your paintings) or Arches  22 x 30” 140 lb.cold pressed paper. Any paper you like is okay. Paper will be up to you as far as paper size for your work.  Working large you may need more paper  * Clayboard workshop will require 2 panels of clayboard or cradled clayboard  a 8 x 10 or 11 x 14 are good sizes.

Brushes:  Brings your own brushes, you will need large ones, medium sizes and small round detail brushes.  The brushes that I use that you may not have are the angled brushes.  I have a 1”,  ½ and a ¼ of these brushes.   They are called Angle shaders.  You should choose the size that you think you would like or use the most.  This is an excellent blending brush for smooth edges in objects that are soft.

Palette:  You can you the palette that works best for you.  If you are new to watercolor you can even use a paper plate.  Mine is a folding palette by Holbein.
